Rolling into the holidays...

Here we are just about to finish off this school term. I really feel that the term has flown.

Crafting has mainly been that of the woolly kind. Holidays should make for some creative inspiration and I'm looking forward to working on some of my neglected projects.

I have managed to finish off two woolly projects and a sewing project

the neglected blanket was completed and in an effort to use up the scraps I had to buy some more wool to add to those lovely little scraps. so another knee blanket was completed but guess what .... there are still leftovers. I'll just keep hooking till there is only a tiny amount left.

this is how the leftovers started to come together....

the finished scrappy blanket

this quilt was completed and gifted. I really enjoyed making this quilt and even have toyed with making another one for me.

this little May Gibb's themed baby quilt was completed a few weeks ago. It had been languishing waiting for a border.

Now I know that it's only September but....... 1st of September is the day that my favourite elf on the shelf store opens for the year. Of course some new accessories were purchased and a new little elf jumped into the basket too. Looking forward to the antics they will get up to this year.

Happy days

happy finishes

Last weekend I picked up a finished quilt from Jemima's.

I was quite excited to get it back as it has been a flimsy for quite awhile. I had hoped to hand quilt it but I think my hand quilting days are all but over. The binding was on Saturday afternoon and as I had poor miss May Gibbs awaiting binding too that got done also.

The binding for the liberty dresdens has been ready since I cut the borders. Some extra scrappiness to keep with the feel of the quilt. I am going to use my Terrier doily for the label on this one.

This will be the label for the May Gibbs quilt. I need to polish up my stitching skills as it has been such a long time since I did stitchery. I thought this was perfect for the label and seeing as it is for our princess I wanted to go that extra effort.
(if anyone is wondering where the stitchery was from- it is a colouring page from here The have a couple of very sweet pictures that could be used quite easily for stitchery.)

Just love that little bottom poking out.

Happy days

Valentines day.....

Wow where did the past month go?  Once it's back to work the days seem to just run away from me.
Some sewing has been getting done and some quilts that have made their way to the front of the queue.
Firstly I picked up my lovely May Gibbs quilt and the binding is all prepped ready to go. Seeing that we are having temps in the thirties I don't think it will be sewn on just yet.

I was inspired to make a comfort quilt for a parent that is going through some serious health issues.
A fitting design to be sharing on Valentine's day.
I dipped into my tilda stash and my small stash of low volume fabrics. As I am trying to reduce my fabric stash this made sense to use what I had as they suited the project perfectly.

A good friend is going to become a grandmother and I have been debating what design quilt to make for the baby. The mum has some unusual taste leaning towards vintage so I thought Liberty Hexies would suit. As Hub and I were driving past The quilt shop in Eltham I decided to pop in and buy some background fabric as I didn't have anything in a generous quantity that would suit.
It was a very successful trip....
I got planning and cutting as soon as I got home and I definitely am happy with the result so far.

A few weeks ago mum asked me to drive her to Spotlight and while sticky beaking around in the $3 per metre shelves I found this beauty........
I have another farm quilt to make and this will be perfect for the backing. I just love it and the price certainly made it even more appealing.

Hoping to get the heart quilt back this week from the quilters so I can bind and gift it asap.

Happy sewing!!

quick catch up

can't believe a month has passed since my last post.

I have been busy enjoying my applique projects and have some completed blocks to share. Hanging out for the holidays to also give some attention to my other wisps.

Monsters are popping up everywhere....

First Baltimore block done too.

Managed some retail therapy too..
A lovely trip to Jemima's to add to my stash of fabrics for the backgrounds of this future project.

A trip to Spotlight for some of these pretties.....
The print is much smaller than the print on my May Gibbs fabric that I purchased from a patchwork shop. It looks much daintier I think. A new project will come out of this in the future.

That's me all caught up for now...

Happy sewing!

Ps. forgot to show Spring Bouquet all bound and gifted. thankfully well received!

May Gibbs loving

well don't know if you're ready for another post so soon....

I had a zoom catch up with sewing girls that I usually see every few months but with lock down that hasn't happened for what seems like ages. Others that joined the zoom get together I haven't seen for even longer. I have taken this photo from our facebook group and unfortunately a few had already signed off.  We usually meet at Gisborne Patch and Quilt so I put a photo of the shop as my background for the meeting. Just wish I could have done some shopping lol

It felt good to see everyone's faces and have a chat. I hadn't realised how much I had missed my crafty get togethers.

There a quite a few photos so brace yourselves...

I Saw some May Gibbs fabric online and decided I had to have some to make a quilt for the then future baby.   I had gifted the new parents two May Gibbs books that I had bought when my boys were babies so the quilt was a perfect addition. I won't finish it off just yet, it will be a gift for her first birthday.

The top is complete though...

these are just a few of my favourite blocks.

I also got Celebrating Mary Brown custom quilted by Leanne Kaufmann who has worked her magic on a few of my quilts. It has turned out beautifully.

It's a little too big to get all of it in one photo and it would take a body builder to hold it up   So much beautiful detail in the quilting.

Well hope your weekend is including lots of crafting...

Happy days

just like that.....

Well just like that the school holidays have come and gone. I feel I had a lot of things booked in, either running around for mum, brunches...
