back to the grind

Well the first week back at work is nearly over. Boy could I do with a nanna nap.
Here are the pics of my Dutch table toppers. The red is quilted and ready to bind and the blue one needs to be quilted and bound. It may have to wait till next holidays. The smaller ones I made are both bound just some stitching by hand to do.
I am quite happy with them as they are lovely and bright. The dark and light reds and the dark blues are from a range of fabrics called Redwork Bluework revival. I really love the fabrics and if I wasn't 'blued' and 'reded' out I would love to make another quilt in this range but for now the leftovers can go away and wait for their second chance at inspiring.
Maybe with some stitchery........

I have started my Summer nostalgia block and need to get started on my block ten of the Tisket tasket bom. Hopefully this weekend....
We have a trivia night on Saturday. The boys are going to come with us - they help make us a good team and we have fun together.
The library books have been read and returned and I enjoyed it a lot but the back to work routine has edged out that luxury for now.......
I am thinking of reading Jane Eyre......I always seem to get caught up in a genre.
I have been blog surfing and found a lovely Christmas swap. And seeing as My stitcher's angel swap is complete, why not. Parcel no 2 has been received and no 3 should be in the post tomorrow. It was well received, thankfully.
cheers for now

Hopefully that will be all the red and blue for a while!

a little blue....... and red....

My orders from the Fat quarter shop and Ericas have arrived. sometimes I think I like the search for fabrics the most. I needed some more blues and reds to go with my dutch fabrics. They both had a beautiful selection of Redwork Bluework revival fabrics. I ended up ordering some more today- some red on white and that will complete the stash, but I would still like some nice red gingham......... Then I will have equal varieties of blue and red.

I have fussy cut some 4 1/2 in squares from the dutch picture fabrics and I will border them in the red and blue fabrics.
I think they are quite sweet but after this I definitely need to consider a different colour selection! I am drowning in blue and white.

On another topic I have posted my paper bag swap to Helz and I hope she likes it.
Here is a little peek...

Cheers for now.
Ps have completely completed my Girls day out top! Just need to get some backing and away we quilt. Have started quilting my charm pack quilt.

another red day?

Here are some pics of the second pack of goodies that I have just sent off to Nicole in States who was a forgotten stitching angel. I hope she likes the pack. I got a little carried away with the redness of it all but the fabrics came together nicely and she did say she liked reds and blues.

The stitchery pattern was from a craft mag. but I don't remember which one. I just love it and I embroidered it in a bright red to suit the fabrics.
I also got a little carried away with the yo-yo's as is so easily done they are quite addictive once you get started. I will just put them away and start a collection you never know when you may need 'bizillions' of yo-yo's?

This craft bag includes some of the dutch fabric that my swap partner sent me it is just so cute and the braid under the striped fabric belonged to my grandmother who had it stashed away. It was brand new on the original card. I almost don't want to use it but there isn't much point leaving it there for someone else to have to clean out when I die so I am enjoying using it. There was also a blue braid that I used on my ruler bag which was in blues.
I still have lots left over to keep though.

First week of the school holidays almost gone.
I wish it was four weeks holidays... can't be greedy now, can we.
Have a good day.

RAIN GLORIOUS RAIN

Tennis was a wash out! and this is what our yard looked like while it was flooding... I could barely see outside the windscreen.
The bag at the top is what I made this week with the beautiful dutch fabric that Els sent me from the Netherlands. We were 'stitchers angels' swap partners last year. The braid was from my grandmother's house and it just suits the colours of the fabrics so well. I love it.
loving the rain, hope it lasts...

something blue

Blue is my favourite colour as people who know me will attest to. I have an over abundance of blue-if that is possible.
Here are some of my blue things......

just like that.....

Well just like that the school holidays have come and gone. I feel I had a lot of things booked in, either running around for mum, brunches...
