This week I have been concentrating on doing my last three stitcheries for my boys story quilt. I thought I only had one to go but found another two in the box when I was piecing the blocks on the holidays.
This stitchery didn't appeal to me very much so it was a bit of a hurdle to jump before moving onto the ones I like more. Once finished I am glad to say that I have developed a fondness for it too.
then it was onto the second last one....
I just think it is so cute. I didn't remove the 'fluff' from the dark cotton before snapping a pic so it looks like my poor little boy has hairy armpits! Love the dog's stance on the surfboard.
I am working on the last one, then I will be able to put the last two blocks together. Boy this is coming together.....
Hope you all have a lovely week.
cheers
Marina
Hi Marina
ReplyDeleteI'm working on the Boy Story quilt aswell. I just finished the surfer stitchery yesterday!! I am doing the robot one and have the castle and alien blocks to stitch. Seems to have taken mr a long time but I am putting every thing on hold until it's done. Can't wiat to see yours all finished. Good luck
Cheers Geniene
The story quilt is looking great. The blocks are such a nice mix of stitchery and patchwork. Your pincushion top certainly looks pretty. The pony looks like he is going to jump off :)
ReplyDeleteSeeing all those beautiful glass buttons makes me want to look for vintage buttons now. Apparently bakelite smells if you warm it - rub it hard with your thumb. Also modern plastics were not widely used until mid 1900's - 1930 to 1950 - so if you know how old they are that would help. Their moulded flower shapes look like bakelite patterns.
Your stitcheries are just lovely Marina... the alien ones remind me of Mork and Mindy... do you remember that show from the 80s? The quilt is going to look special..
ReplyDeleteYour stitchery is wonderful and the blocks are so cute :)
ReplyDeleteI like the little surfer with his dog. Conjures up lovely memories of summer by the beach.
