I managed to finish the last ginger jar block early yesterday so decided to get the top sewn up too.
I even pieced a backing for it with the leftover fabrics from the ginger jars and some fabric that I had in my stash. May as well use it for a backing than let it sit there unused.
I'm very happy with the finish.
Fiona from Bubz Rugz, who tempted me into this project, has finished her last block too so stay tuned for her finished top too.
I had toyed with making a small border of the leftover fabrics but it didn't sing to me so I'll keep it simple. The folded fabric at the bottom is the backing that I pieced.
I still have to make those four pieced blocks for the Simple sampler-there has been progress though. I have cut all the pieces for the four blocks and they are sorted in piles ready to go. Just need to motivate myself.
Once done I can start the appliqued borders.
Fingers crossed I motivate myself sooner rather than later.
Christmas is creeping closer and I can't wait to start decorating. I may have bought some new decorating items....... and I may have sent no 1 son on a shopping mission to Ikea.
I bought this to put on my desk at work. I have warned them about my love of Christmas.
They aren't so keen on Elf on the shelf so I may have to hold back on that part.. for now.
Happy days
Marina
