I can't remember how old I was but I was probably around grade 3 or 4 and the leader of the local Brownie group lived (and still does) across from our house. Some how I ended up joining the brownies. I remember going to get the special uniform and the meetings around a large toadstool. I remember feeling so special belonging to this group. It is hard to explain.
The beret has always been stashed in a drawer and recently at mum's I found my old badge, if I remember correctly it was worn on the tie.
The beret is a little moth eaten but I just can't chuck it out. I think I was a Tintookie? Do any of you remember these?
I was so excited to find the badge again. A little piece of the past.
Hope you are all having a great week so far.
cheers
Marina

ReplyDeleteBeautiful memories. Yes, I was a Brownie and that metal badge belonged on the little yellow tie. We had a little yellow knit hat.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see that you did not kick the computer Marina. Or did you?
ReplyDeleteSuch little things but they hold many memories and, for a moment, take you back to another time.
I never had a brownies or scouts close by while growing up, as we lived in the country. How wonderful to have such treasured memories! Don't lose that badge again!! lol
ReplyDeleteI never joined Brownies or anything like that and yet my son is an avid scouter and I would imagine he will have his badges, woggles etc... in years to come to look back on like yours. How wonderful that you still have them.
ReplyDeleteOh, that does bring back memories! I think my badge was on the sleeve and the pin was on the pocket, but that was eons ago, so don't quote me. lol
ReplyDeleteYour badge is different than the one I wore , I too have great memories of brownies .Thanks for sharing .

we had a sash to put out badges on, but now i'm in the process of sewing them onto a big woolen blankie. well i started it about 6 years ago, maybe i'll get back onto it when i finish one of the blankies i'm working on!
