quilt convention

This morning Hubbie and boys headed off to the motor show and I got dropped off at the Australian Quilt convention at the Exhibition buildings for a few hours of crafty bliss.
The quilts were just gorgeous with some lovely ones in the shape of delicious foods. There was a beautiful pavlova with berries on the top you just wanted to touch it. There were some lovely blue quilts which I would have loved to take home.
I wandered around the stalls at least four times, it is hard to take it all in on the first round. I bought a clover yo yo maker. I have always wanted to buy one. Also got some little buttons for my Girls day out quilt.

Happy saturday!
(Can't work out how to get the pics in the order and place I want. sorry about that..)

beautiful reds

red, red, red,
I always love when this tree flowers in our front garden. At the start of the school year the boys always have their 'first day' pic under it's canopy.
It attracts parrots and unfortunately european wasps. I don't mind the bees but hate the wasps!

these blocks are sewn ready to send for the bush fire appeal. I have already sent a top to Maree in Qld, Mrs Martins quilt shop in Victoria is also collecting so I will send her some squares too. I love this buggy fabric. I have almost completely used the stash of this fabric. I have made 4 kiddies throws so far this will make 5 and there is just enough left to make one more! Talk about value-or just overbuying at the start?

How cute is this lovely embroidery. It was done by my mother as a young girl. My grandmother had kept it all this time. My mum is so crafty, the back of her work is as neat as the front even back then. I am glad I inherited her love of craft.
I want to make it up into something little-perhaps a small wall hanging. Just waiting for the inspiration and happy to treasure it for now.

Roll on the weekend.......

sunday inspiration

It's sunday morning and have managed to have the house to myself again.
Couldn't get inspired to go to Dog obedience today, maybe next week....
so thought I would use the time to go through some of my stash to find some fabric to make a quilt top for the bushfire appeal. I have a heap of fabric with bugs and flowers that was already cut into 2 1/2 inch squares so I have cut some blender fabric into 4 1/2 inch squares to make up enough to make a top.
also have some strips to make up some quilt as you go squares that I found on this website http://sewmanyquiltstoolittletime.blogspot.com/ they are collecting quilts for the fire victims. It looks easy will see once I have a go!
Happy sunday

Peace and quiet

Friday I have a day off from work and get to have the house to myself.

I set myself a list of 'to dos' and amazingly got to tick most things off.

I managed to finish a redwork cushion that I have to make for a swap the only thing is I can't post a pic till the actual swap which is for May 2nd. (from 'on the verandah' blog http://www.mareew.blogspot.com/)
Don't know if I can hang out that long! I am really happy with it, it has turned out lovely, hope my swap person will like it. If I can't hang out I may have to just show a snippet......

Having some difficulties with my embroidery on my dove block. It seems to be puckering a lot I may have done it too tightly. Will try to press it to see if that helps or else I will have to unpick-not looking forward to that but I won't be happy with it otherwise.

Want to try to cut some fabric to make a top for the bushfire appeal. Raiding your stash just makes more room for new stuff and the AQC is only a week away! There are a lot of great sites that you can do things for. I have sent one top and some squares so far.
Have a lovely weekend!

Wednesday 18 February 2009

Well welcome to my blog, I have bitten the bullet and started a blog with help from no 1 son.
Now that I have one I will have to put a little thought into what I would like my post to be but this will be my intro post as the rest of the computer addicts are 'patiently' awaiting their turn and I have monopolised the computer for quite awhile trying to set up this blog.
I will post some crafty stuff as soon as I can organise some pics and things.
Please feel free to leave a comment.
cheers for now.

Time is flying....

Seems like my blog has become a little neglected again, this doesn't mean a lack of crafting though. Progress has been achieved on most...
